Skate Host

Part-Time Seasonal | Winter 2026-2027

City Center Rink is located in the heart of downtown Providence between Biltmore Park and Burnside Park. It is part of the Providence Parks system and serves more than 50,000 ice skating and ice bumper car patrons during a typical winter season. The Rink is a premier downtown destination and a community hub for outdoor recreation, events, and public programming.
The City Center Rink is seeking seasonal Skate Hosts who can skate confidently, support guests on the ice, and maintain safe and organized skate-rental operations. Skate Hosts work under the direction of the Assistant Manager/Manager on Duty, Programming Supervisors, and Director of Athletic and Event Facilities.

Responsibilities

• Attend all required training and demonstrate the required skating, safety, customer-service, and rental-room skills.
• Monitor the ice surface while on skates, enforce skating rules, and assist guests who fall or need support.
• Recognize and promptly report injuries, unsafe behavior, damaged equipment, ice concerns, or other hazards.
• Rent and return skates, skate aids, and helmets while maintaining accurate organization and guest flow.
• Clean and sanitize rental skates and equipment and maintain an orderly skate-rental room and surrounding areas.
• Inspect skates and safety equipment for visible damage and remove unsafe items from service for review.
• Assist with facility opening and closing, bumper car setup, guest lines, events, and light cleaning as assigned.
• Communicate clearly by two-way radio and provide friendly, patient, and professional service.
• Complete other duties related to Rink operations and customer safety as assigned.

Qualifications and Availability

• Must be a proficient and confident ice skater who can navigate crowded public skating sessions safely.
• Must be able to stop quickly, change direction, bend down, pick up cones, and assist skaters on the ice.
• Customer-service experience in a public setting is preferred.
• Ability to work outside in winter conditions and remain attentive for extended periods.
• Evening, weekend, school-vacation, and holiday availability is required.
• Must be available for at least two high-demand holidays and during Providence school vacation periods: December 21, 2026-January 1, 2027 and February 15-19, 2027.
• The Rink is open on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

Job Type: Part-time seasonal	Pay: $18.00 per hour starting
Expected Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week; varies by operating needs	Work Location: In person
